Depositional elements and evolution of gravity-flow deposits on Lingshan Island (Eastern China): An integrated outcrop-subsurface study

Tian Yang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the depositional facies, depositional elements, and sediment transport processes of supercritical flows and hybrid event beds of the Lingshandao Formation in Eastern China. The findings emphasize the downdip and lateral variation in depositional elements associated with gravity flow evolution.

Genesis of heterogeneity in conglomerate reservoirs: insights from the Baikouquan formation of Mahu sag, in the Junggar Basin, China

Jiang He et al.

Summary: The Baikouquan formation in the Mahu sag is a typical conglomerate reservoir with dominant dissolution pores as the main reservoir space. Strong hydrodynamic underwater deposition favors the development of high-quality reservoirs, with underwater distributary channel lithofacies being the most favorable for reservoir development. Sedimentation determined the original difference and diagenesis promoted the formation of conglomerate reservoir heterogeneity.
