Manganese cobalt-MOF@carbon nanofiber-based non-enzymatic histamine sensor for the determination of food freshness

Baban Dey et al.

Summary: In this study, a hybrid array based on manganese cobalt (2-methylimodazole)-metal organic frameworks (Mn-Co(2-MeIm)MOF) and carbon nanofibers (CNFs) was prepared as a non-enzymatic electrochemical sensor for histamine detection in fish and bananas. The hybrid array exhibited high porosity, large specific surface area, and excellent hydrophilicity, enabling easy access of analyte molecules to the redox-active metal sites of the MOF. The sensor demonstrated excellent electrocatalytic activity for histamine oxidation under acidic conditions, with a wide linear range, low limit of detection, and high sensitivity. Importantly, the sensor was capable of detecting histamine in fish and banana samples stored for different periods of time, indicating its practical viability as an analytical histamine detector.

Electrochemical Determination of Tyramine Using a Carbon Ionic Liquid Paste Electrode Modified with f-MWCNTs/Graphene Nanocomposite Film

Muhaned Mohammed Eteya et al.

Summary: This paper presents the development of a carbon paste electrode modified with f-MWCNTs/GR nanocomposite film and the butyl-3-methylimidazolium bis (trifluoromethylsulfonyl) imide ([bmim] NTF2) ionic liquid. The modified electrode showed excellent electrocatalytic behavior for the oxidation of tyramine, attributed to the synergistic effect of carbon nanotubes, graphene, and ionic liquid. The sensor exhibited linear oxidation peak currents for tyramine in the concentration range of 1-1000 μM and a detection limit of 0.5 μM. The f-MWCNTs-GR/CILPE demonstrated good selectivity for tyramine molecules in the presence of interfering specious, making it suitable for determining tyramine concentrations in food and biological samples.

Fabrication of porous nickel (II)-based MOF@carbon nanofiber hybrid mat for high-performance non-enzymatic glucose sensing

Baban Dey et al.

Summary: Flexible carbon nanofiber-supported nickel (pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid)-MOFs (Ni(PDA) MOF@CNF) have been successfully prepared and used as binder-free electrodes for non-enzymatic glucose detection. The Ni(PDA) MOF with a porous structure promotes the interaction between active centers and glucose molecules, leading to enhanced electrocatalytic performance. The Ni(PDA) MOF@CNF electrode exhibits high sensitivity, low detection limit, wide linear range, and short response time, and shows excellent selectivity against interference from other bio-compounds. Furthermore, the electrode demonstrates excellent storage stability. The Ni(PDA) MOF@CNF electrode holds promise for glucose and lactate monitoring.
