Influence of intentional phosphorus doping on Brassica juncea-derived unintentionally N, Ca-doped carbon quantum dots@bioplastic composites for applications in LED and UV-tube down-conversion

Varun Dutt Sharma et al.

Summary: A cost-effective, sustainable, and green synthesis of phosphorus-doped carbon quantum dots (CQDs) derived from mustard flower extract was reported. The as-synthesized CQDs unintentionally incorporated nitrogen and calcium, while intentional phosphorus doping improved their luminescent characteristics. The quasi-circular or polygonal-shaped CQDs with an average diameter of 3.4 nm exhibited yellow-greenish fluorescence, excellent photostability, and a quantum yield of up to 18.2%. Furthermore, the use of a biodegradable bioplastic as a solid-phase dispersion matrix for CQDs was explored for down-conversion of LEDs and UV tubes.

Ameliorating Uniformity and Color Conversion Efficiency in Quantum Dot-Based Micro-LED Displays through Blue-UV Hybrid Structures

Tzu-Yi Lee et al.

Summary: This study proposes a novel structural design that combines blue and quantum well (QW)-intermixing ultraviolet (UV)-hybrid μ-LEDs to achieve high color-conversion efficiency (CCE). Through simulations, various combinations of QD and TiO2 concentrations and thickness variations are examined for their impact on photoluminescence efficiency (PLQY). The resulting high-efficiency color-conversion layer (CCL) saves time and material costs and enhances light absorption and illumination uniformity. The research also introduces a passivation protection layer and a modified distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) to improve device reliability and achieve high CCE values.
