Non-marine gastropods from the Cretaceous-Paleogene transition in the Pingyi Basin, eastern China

Tingting Yu et al.

Summary: Our study presents a taxonomic and palaeoecological investigation of non-marine gastropods from the latest Cretaceous to Paleocene deposits in the Pingyi Basin, eastern China. The results indicate that there is no significant species change in the gastropod fauna across the Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary in this area.

A latest Cretaceous gastropod fauna from the Jiaolai Basin of East Asia

Tingting Yu et al.

Summary: A study of a non-marine gastropod fauna from the Jiaolai Basin in eastern North China spanning from the uppermost Campanian to Maastrichtian deposits revealed five species, including two new species. The findings suggest that these gastropods mostly lived in shallow lakes, with some species also inhabiting floodplains.

Extinction risk is linked to lifestyle in freshwater gastropods

Thomas A. Neubauer et al.

Summary: The study revealed a clear relationship between the lifestyle of freshwater gastropods and the risk of extinction, with Caenogastropoda being more prone to extinction due to their smaller geographic ranges. This risk is independent of geological time. In long-lived lakes, Caenogastropoda are more dominant, indicating a positive relationship between the proportion of Caenogastropoda and geological duration.
