Synthesis of biogenic silver nanoparticles using butter fruit pulp extract and evaluation of their antibacterial activity against Providencia vermicola in Rohu

Ravi Mani et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the green synthesis of AgNPs using butter fruit pulp extract and their efficacy against the fish pathogen Providencia vermicola. The results showed that the AgNPs had a significant inhibitory effect on the pathogen and improved the survival rate and tissue restoration in infected fish.

Antibiotic-resistant Enterobacteriaceae from diseased freshwater goldfish

P. G. Preena et al.

Summary: Goldfish farming has raised concerns due to bacterial infections and antibiotic resistance crisis. The study identified 13 significant bacterial isolates from infected fish, with multiple antibiotic resistance indices ranging from 0.22 to 0.87. Most resistant isolates required a minimum antibiotic concentration of > 256 mcg/ml, while all were susceptible to ciprofloxacin. Plasmid curing revealed the location of antibiotic resistance genes, mainly on plasmids, indicating horizontal gene transfer plays a role in the spread of antimicrobial resistance.

Granulomatous bacterial diseases in fish: An overview of the host's immune response

David Rajme-Manzur et al.

Summary: Bacterial diseases pose a significant threat to fish aquaculture, particularly granulomatous diseases which can lead to high mortality rates and slow growth. Understanding the infectious process and host immune response to granulomatous diseases is crucial for studying fish immunology and developing effective strategies.
