Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio and disease activity in rheumatoid arthritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Angelo Zinellu et al.

Summary: This study examined the discriminatory ability of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients with active disease. The results showed that NLR and PLR can significantly discriminate between RA patients with and without active disease.

Systematic analysis between inflammation-related index and sex hormones in American adults: cross-sectional research based NHANES 2013-2016

Chengcheng Wei et al.

Summary: This study analyzed data from the NHANES 2013-2016 survey and found an association between inflammation-related indexes and sex hormones. Male hormone indexes were negatively correlated with inflammation-related indexes, while female estradiol was positively associated with SII, NLR, PPN, and NC. The XGBoost model identified SII, PLR, and NLR as critical indexes for sex hormones. The association between sex hormones and inflammatory indicators was more prominent in American adults over the age of 60 or those with a BMI greater than 28 kg/m(2).

The clinical value of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) for predicting the occurrence and severity of pneumonia in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage

Rui-Hong Wang et al.

Summary: The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) were compared for their predictive value for stroke-associated pneumonia (SAP) in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). The NLR was found to be the best predictor for SAP occurrence and ICU admission, as well as for the outcome at discharge in ICH patients.

Summary: A prediction model was developed to identify the risk of surgical site infections (SSI) preoperatively, and it was validated in an external cohort. The model showed good diagnostic ability and usability. There were no significant differences in the effects of prophylactic antibiotics for SSI in different risk stratifications.

Association between admission systemic immune-inflammation index and mortality in critically ill patients with sepsis: a retrospective cohort study based on MIMIC-IV database

Daishan Jiang et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the association between systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and mortality risk in critically ill patients with sepsis and explore possible tools for rapid screening. The results showed a J-shaped relationship between SII and mortality risk, with the SII level of 774.46*10(9)/L associated with the lowest mortality risk. Low and high SII levels were associated with an increased risk of short-term mortality in critically ill patients with sepsis.

The association between systemic immune-inflammation index and rheumatoid arthritis: evidence from NHANES 1999-2018

Bo Liu et al.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the relationship between systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) using NHANES from 1999 to 2018. Data from the NHANES database was collected and multivariate regression analysis and subgroup analysis were performed to investigate the relationship between SII and RA. The study found a positive correlation between SII and RA, suggesting that SII is a valuable inflammatory marker to predict the risk of rheumatoid arthritis in US adults.

Stamatios Kokkinakis et al.

Summary: This study systematically assessed the burden of complications of pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) performed in the last 10 years. The results showed high complication rates for PD, including 30-day mortality, overall complications, serious complications, risk of postoperative pancreatic fistula, and mean length of stay. The study found that the observed heterogeneity may be partially attributed to the country of origin, study design, and American Society of Anesthesiologists class.

Summary: The systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) may be a useful prognostic marker for predicting the long-term survival in patients with distal cholangiocarcinoma (DCC) after pancreatoduodenectomy (PD). Patients with high SII levels (SII >= 1450) were independently associated with poor survival outcomes, along with other factors such as portal vein resection and microscopic venous invasion.
