Systematic analysis between inflammation-related index and sex hormones in American adults: cross-sectional research based NHANES 2013-2016

Summary: This study analyzed data from the NHANES 2013-2016 survey and found an association between inflammation-related indexes and sex hormones. Male hormone indexes were negatively correlated with inflammation-related indexes, while female estradiol was positively associated with SII, NLR, PPN, and NC. The XGBoost model identified SII, PLR, and NLR as critical indexes for sex hormones. The association between sex hormones and inflammatory indicators was more prominent in American adults over the age of 60 or those with a BMI greater than 28 kg/m(2).

Summary: The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) were compared for their predictive value for stroke-associated pneumonia (SAP) in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). The NLR was found to be the best predictor for SAP occurrence and ICU admission, as well as for the outcome at discharge in ICH patients.

Association between admission systemic immune-inflammation index and mortality in critically ill patients with sepsis: a retrospective cohort study based on MIMIC-IV database

Low and high SII levels were associated with an increased risk of short-term mortality in critically ill patients with sepsis.

The association between systemic immune-inflammation index and rheumatoid arthritis: evidence from NHANES 1999-2018

Summary: This study aimed to explore the relationship between systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) using NHANES from 1999 to 2018. Data from the NHANES database was collected and multivariate regression analysis and subgroup analysis were performed to investigate the relationship between SII and RA. The study found a positive correlation between SII and RA, suggesting that SII is a valuable inflammatory marker to predict the risk of rheumatoid arthritis in US adults.

Furthermore, the relationships between NLR, PLR, and MLR with depression were found to be non-linear.

The combination of CRP and dNLR further increased the predictive positive value.
