Summary: This study developed a pseudo-targeted metabolomics approach to discover ginsenoside markers for the precise authentication of ginseng and its use in compound formulation products (CFPs). By conducting mass spectrometry experiments, the researchers successfully characterized 567 components and established key identification points for 12 ginseng species using multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) of 262 ion pairs. The simultaneous detection of 14 markers enabled the identification of ginseng from 15 ginseng-containing CFPs, and the pseudo-targeted metabolomics strategy outperformed the full-scan high-resolution mass spectrometry approach in differentiating among multiple ginseng.

HDL has been found to have antiatherogenic functions, such as reverse cholesterol transport and suppression of inflammation, but its oxidative modifications can lead to dysfunction and inflammation.

Summary: Hepatic innate immune function plays an important role in the pathogenesis of various diseases. This study found that endotoxemia induces a zone-specific acute phase response (APR) in mouse hepatocytes, with certain genes, including C-reactive protein (CRP), being more highly expressed in the pericentral/centrilobular hepatocytes. It was also discovered that the transcription factor NF-KB subunit p50 binds to the CRP promoter and its nuclear translocation is associated with the zone-specific APR. Overall, these results suggest that the murine hepatocyte innate immune response to endotoxemia involves zone-specific activation of transcription factors and target gene expression.
