Tribological behavior of the wear-resistant and self-lubrication integrated interface structure with ordered micro-pits

Xiyao Liu et al.

Summary: This study proposes an ordered microporous nickel-based hard coating structure filled with solid lubricant SnAgCu, focusing on its tribological behavior at temperatures ranging from 25 to 400 degrees C. The results show that this interface structure integrates friction reduction and wear resistance. Compared to the matrix, the wear rate and friction coefficient are reduced by more than 20% and 35%, respectively, at 25-400 degrees C. The SnAgCu in micro-pits forms a lubrication layer on the worn surface, providing excellent anti-friction and wear resistance to the matrix.

Effects of Biodegradation of Corn-Starch-Sodium-Alginate-Based Liquid Mulch Film on Soil Microbial Functions

Xia Gao et al.

Summary: Fully biodegradable liquid mulch was prepared using natural non-toxic polymer compounds corn starch and sodium alginate to address the issues of poor degradability and mechanical properties. The study optimized the preparation conditions and analyzed the mechanical properties of the mulch as well as changes in the microbial community during mulch degradation. The corn-starch-sodium-alginate-based liquid mulch showed optimal performance, with a tensile strength of 0.145 MPa and an elongation at break of 16.05%. The study also highlighted the positive effects of mulch degradation on soil organic matter content and the optimization of bacterial community structure and function.

Structure-properties relationships in alkaline treated rice husk reinforced thermoplastic cassava starch biocomposites

Phetdaphat Boonsuk et al.

Summary: The study investigated the structure-properties relationships in thermoplastic cassava starch (TPS) based biocomposites with untreated and treated rice husk (RH) at different weight percentages. Alkaline treatment of RH improved filler-matrix interactions and surface properties, leading to enhanced tensile strength of the biocomposites. However, high water absorption was observed in biocomposites with 15 wt% treated RH, while all biocomposites showed high biodegradation rates and slightly decreased thermal stability. These composites exhibit promising properties for absorbent applications.
