Smart farming technologies adoption: Which factors play a role in the digital transition?

Summary: Smart Farming Technologies (SFT), as smart devices in the cyber-physical system, can enhance farm management by generating a large amount of data that can be used throughout the supply chain. However, the adoption of SFT has received limited attention compared to other digital agriculture technologies. This study investigates the adoption of SFT and finds that farmers' intention to use is mainly influenced by performance expectancy, complexity, and social influence, while organizational supporting conditions have minimal effect. The actual adoption decision is positively affected by formal integration along the supply chain and farm size for non-adopters, and by individual intention to use and specialization in the arable sector for adopters.

Climate change and maize productivity in Uganda: Simulating the impacts and alleviation with climate smart agriculture practices

Summary: This study examines the effectiveness of climate smart agriculture (CSA) practices as a mitigation and adaptation strategy to improve maize productivity in rainfed production systems in the sub-humid regions of Sub-Saharan Africa. The results indicate that the use of mulching, especially at a thickness of 6 cm, increases maize grain yield and water use efficiency under present and future conditions.

Factors affecting the adoption of ecological intensification practices: A case study in vegetable production in Chile

Results showed that training on EI practices, pro-environment attitudes, and being female were positively associated with EI practices adoption, while perceived risk and barriers, better access to credit, and higher income had negative effects on EI practices. The study also highlighted the importance of economic resources, trust, and training in impacting the perception of risk and barriers among Chilean farmers regarding EI practices adoption.

Understanding Smallholder Farmers' Intention to Adopt Agricultural Apps: The Role of Mastery Approach and Innovation Hubs in Mexico
