Canopeo and GreenSeeker applications as tools to support tropical pasture management

Summary: This study investigated the feasibility of using Canopeo and GreenSeeker measurements to estimate various plant characteristics in Megathyrsus maximus. The results indicated that lower evaluation heights for the Canopeo index (CI) and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) can effectively predict forage height. The study also found positive correlations between CI and NDVI with plant height, dry matter mass, and leaf index, while negative correlations were observed with stalk index.

Population variation of Bemisia tabaci MED and MEAM1 species in an agricultural landscape: the case of Cukurova plain

Summary: This study investigated the seasonal population variations of MEAM1 and MED species of B. tabaci in cotton fields in the cukurova plain, Turkey. The results showed that MED was more prevalent than MEAM1 in cotton fields, although its rate decreased over the years. The species composition varied according to districts and seasons, with MED being more common in inland districts and MEAM1 being more prevalent in late season in districts close to the Mediterranean Sea. The findings suggest that crop pattern, migration, and climate play important roles in habitat partitioning between the two species.

This study investigated the effects of shade nets in a protective net house on the microenvironment, growth, physiology, and fruit yield of eggplants. The results showed that shade nets created different microenvironments, and eggplants grew better and yielded more fruit under shade compared to the open field. The study also discussed the future perspective of protected cropping technology in Carnarvon.
