Identification and Characterization of Colletotrichum Species Associated with Cherry Leaf Spot Disease in China

Yueyan Zhou et al.

Summary: Leaf spot, a common and serious disease of sweet cherry, has become a major concern in China. A study was conducted from 2018 to 2020 in various provinces, resulting in the identification of 13 Colletotrichum species causing the disease. Pathogenicity tests showed that all 13 species were capable of causing leaf spot on cherry plants. This study provides valuable information for the development of sustainable control measures.

Colletotrichum species causing Bletilla striata anthracnose in the Guizhou Province, China

Yu Liu et al.

Summary: This study successfully identified four pathogenic fungi species, including C. liriopes, C. fructicola, C. boninense, and C. plurivorum, as the causal agents of B. striata anthracnose in the Guizhou Province through pathogen isolation and molecular biology methods. This provides scientific basis for the prevention and control of B. striata anthracnose in Guizhou, China.

Genetic Differentiation and Mixed Reproductive Strategies in the Northern Corn Leaf Blight Pathogen Setosphaeria turcica From Sweet Corn in Fujian Province, China

Yuli Dai et al.

Summary: This study investigated the distribution of mating types and population genetics of North corn leaf blight pathogen Setosphaeria turcica in Fujian Province, China. The research found both MAT1-1 and MAT1-2 mating types in all seven sampling locations, with specific distribution patterns observed. Genetic differentiation was detected between regional and mating type populations, with evidence of a mixed reproductive strategy for S. turcica populations in Fujian.

Genetic Diversity and Population Structure of Cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.] Germplasm Collected from Togo Based on DArT Markers

Kodjo M. Gbedevi et al.

Summary: The cowpea germplasm in Togo exhibits a moderate level of genetic diversity, with most accessions being inbred. The genetic diversity and population structure analysis identified four main groups, indicating weak population differentiation.

Development of High Yielding Cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.] Lines with Improved Quality Seeds through Mutation and Pedigree Selection Methods

Elmahdy Metwally et al.

Summary: Mutation breeding and pedigree selection methods have shown promising results in improving cowpea varieties in Egypt, with several new high-yielding lines selected and released to farmers. These methods have led to the development of new varieties with early maturity, high seed quality, and increased protein content.
