The Research Integrity Office in Spain. A pending issue

Cristina Candal-Pedreira et al.

Summary: In recent years, scientific misconduct cases have been exposed, highlighting global breaches in scientific integrity. Spain has also witnessed high-profile cases of scientific misconduct. However, there is currently no organization or agency in place to monitor the ethical aspects of biomedical research. It is therefore necessary to establish an independent office to investigate and impose sanctions on cases of suspected scientific misconduct, particularly in publicly funded research to prevent misappropriation of public funds.
