Interaction principles for digital puppeteering to promote teacher learning

Rhonda Bondie et al.

Summary: This literature review focuses on the role of virtual humans in mixed reality digital puppeteering simulations for promoting teacher learning, analyzing 18 studies published between 2013 and 2020. The findings resulted in three learning design models and five design principles to guide the future use of digital puppeteering. Promising results for teacher learning were revealed through mixed reality simulations, suggesting possible areas for future research in interactor preparation and detailed evaluation of interactions between teachers and avatars in virtual classrooms.
