Food Away from Home Frequency, Diet Quality, and Health: Cross-Sectional Analysis of NHANES Data 2011-2018

Sayaka Nagao-Sato et al.

Summary: The frequency of meals prepared away from home in the U.S. is associated with poorer diet quality and health outcomes. This study found that adults who frequently consumed meals prepared away from home tended to have lower diet quality scores, higher body mass index (BMI), and larger waist circumference. Factors such as age, gender, income, and marital status were also found to be related to the frequency of meals prepared away from home.

Nonparametric Mass Imputation for Data Integration

Sixia Chen et al.

Summary: Data integration combining a probability sample with a nonprobability sample is an emerging area of research in survey sampling. This paper proposes a nonparametric mass imputation method for data integration and demonstrates its benefits through simulation studies and real applications.

Deviance information criteria for mixtures of distributions

Chanmin Kim

Summary: The deviance information criterion (DIC) proposed by Spiegelhalter et al. for model comparison may not be appropriate for mixture of distributions due to label switching and multimodality issues. Celeux et al. proposed several modified DIC constructions but did not fully explore alternative DIC properties. This study investigates the properties of DIC3 and proposes a modified DIC to address issues raised by using the dataset twice, comparing it to other model selection criteria using two numerical examples.

Uncertainty Estimation for Pseudo-Bayesian Inference Under Complex Sampling

Matthew R. Williams et al.

Summary: Social and economic studies often use complex survey designs to optimize estimation efficiency and minimize costs. Using weighted sampling pseudo-posterior distributions, population models can be estimated on observed samples, but dependence between clustered units may cause errors in the resulting pseudo-posterior covariance matrix.
