A Biophysical Investigation of DNA-Binding Interactions of Push-Pull Dibenzodioxins and Implications for in Vitro anti-Cancer Activity

Subhadeep Banerjee et al.

Summary: This study investigated the interactions between dibenzodioxin and DNA using biophysical techniques. The results showed that molecules with intercalative binding preference increased DNA viscosity and had higher cytotoxicity. In silico docking studies also suggested that dibenzodioxin may exert its cytotoxicity through binding with DNA.

Amino-Terephthalonitrile-Based Single Benzene Fluorophores with Large Stokes Shifts and Solvatochromic Behavior

Tanya Raghava et al.

Summary: We have synthesized a small library of blue-to-green emissive single benzene-based fluorophores with good Stokes shift and high fluorescence quantum yields. The planarization of the donor amine and benzodinitrile units under certain solvatochromic conditions leads to strong fluorescence, while the lack of co-planarity in the excited state geometry results in a non-fluorescent channel. Molecules with perpendicular nitro moieties are completely non-emissive.

Dual-state efficient chromophore with pH-responsive and solvatofluorochromic properties based on an asymmetric single benzene framework†

Huijing Liu et al.

Summary: The unique single-benzene-based chromophore with asymmetric structure shows efficient luminescence and significant ratiometric pH-dependent fluorescence, which make it applicable for environmental sensing and pH-associated physiological processes. It also allows for visual identification of different brands of drinking water.
