Brief Interventions for Self-injurious Thoughts and Behaviors in Young People: A Systematic Review

Mallory L. Dobias et al.

Summary: Rates of self-injurious thoughts and behaviors (SITBs) increase sharply across adolescence and remain high in young adulthood. Existing interventions for SITBs are ineffective and inaccessible for many young people in need of mental healthcare. Briefer intervention options may increase access to care, but traditional interventions take too long to complete.

Initial Efficacy of a Fraction-Vocabulary Intervention for Students Experiencing Mathematics Difficulty in Grade 4

Xin Lin et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the initial efficacy of a fraction-vocabulary intervention for Grade 4 students with mathematics difficulty and its impact on relevant fraction competencies. The results showed that the intervention had a significant effect on the fraction-vocabulary posttest and one fraction competency - fraction arithmetic. This suggests that students with MD can successfully learn fraction vocabulary through a brief intervention, and improved fraction-vocabulary knowledge may positively affect their fraction competencies.
