Right-Wing Stewards: The Promoting Effect of Religiosity on Environmental Concern among Political Conservatives in a Global Context

The findings show that religiosity is positively associated with environmental concern, while political ideology does not have a meaningful relationship with environmental concern on a global scale. Explaining Attitudes Toward Refugees and Immigrants in Europe

The findings show that these two groups are perceived as distinct, with attitudes toward refugees being more influenced by macro-level factors while attitudes toward immigrants are more influenced by micro-level economic concerns. By addressing this important gap, the article contributes to the literature on attitudes toward foreigners in Europe.

Polarization in attitudes towards refugees and migrants in the Netherlands

Summary: The research found that Dutch society is polarized in its attitudes towards refugees and migrants, with distinct groups at opposite ends as well as in the middle. Factors related to individual and social self, perceptions and experiences regarding refugees and migrants, and societal context were significantly associated with polarized attitudes. Perceived cultural distance from Islam was found to be most strongly linked to polarization.

Opposing Immigrants in Europe: The Interplay Between Religiosity, Values, and Threat

Summary: Previous research has found conflicting results regarding the relationship between religiosity and attitudes toward immigrants, and it is crucial to consider religiosity, value-support, and threat perceptions simultaneously. Religiosity has the weakest direct effect on attitudes toward immigrants, while threat perceptions have the strongest direct effects, followed by value-support. However, religiosity indirectly affects attitudes toward immigrants through threat perceptions.
