The effect of azoospermia factor microdeletions on intracytoplasmic sperm injection results in azoospermia patients

Volkan Emirdar et al.

Summary: The frequency of AZF microdeletion in azoospermia patients who underwent microTESE was determined in this study. Among 806 patients, 55 (6.82%) had Y chromosome microdeletion. The clinical pregnancy rates and live birth rates were significantly lower in the microdeletion patient group compared to those without microdeletion. Therefore, selecting appropriate sperm for ICSI treatment is challenging for AZF microdeletion patients.

Microdeletions and vertical transmission of the Y-chromosome azoospermia factor region

Chen-Yao Deng et al.

Summary: Spermatogenesis is regulated by Y chromosome-specific genes located in the AZF region. AZF microdeletions are structural chromosomal abnormalities that cause male infertility. This review summarizes the mechanism of AZF microdeletion, the function of candidate genes, and the impact of vertical transmission on male fertility.

Poor intracytoplasmic sperm injection outcome in infertile males with azoospermia factor c microdeletions

Li Zhang et al.

Summary: The presence of AZFc microdeletions resulted in poorer outcomes in intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), with lower pregnancy and live birth rates compared to control groups. Patients with these deletions should be aware of their reduced chances of biological fatherhood.

Detection of AZF microdeletions and reproductive hormonal profile analysis of infertile sudanese men pursuing assisted reproductive approaches

Hassan Osman Alhassan Elsaid et al.

Summary: The study found that the prevalence of microdeletions in the Y chromosome confined to AZF a, b, c, and d regions is 58.8% in infertile subjects, with 31.4% being Azoospermic and 27.5% being Oligozoospermic. This suggests that these specified regions of the Y chromosome are crucial for controlling spermatogenesis.

The effects of Y chromosome microdeletions on in vitro fertilization outcomes, health abnormalities in offspring and recurrent pregnancy loss

Andrew P. Golin et al.

Summary: Male factor infertility due to Y chromosome microdeletions (YCMs) is a common cause of severe oligozoospermia and azoospermia. Men with YCMs often require assisted reproductive technology to achieve paternity. Further research is needed to better understand the effects of YCMs on in vitro fertilization outcomes, offspring health abnormalities, and recurrent pregnancy loss.

Prevalence of Y chromosome microdeletion in azoospermia factor subregions among infertile men from West Bengal, India

Saurav Dutta et al.

Summary: This study conducted screening for Y chromosome microdeletion in infertile male cohort from West Bengal, India and found that microdeletions were more common in azoospermic males. The findings suggest that Y chromosome microdeletion plays a significant role in the genetic etiology of infertility among Bengali men.
