Analysis of rockburst mechanism and warning based on microseismic moment tensors and dynamic Bayesian networks

Haoyu Mao et al.

Summary: Rockbursts pose a major risk to the construction of deep underground projects. This study conducted research on the access tunnel of the Shuangjiangkou hydropower station to develop a rockburst warning model and determine the evolutionary mechanism of microfractures in the surrounding rock mass. The study utilized field studies and analysis of microseismic events to choose the study area, and employed moment tensor inversion and a dynamic Bayesian network for investigating the sensitivity of rockburst warnings. The proposed rockburst warning model was validated using two case studies and found to be effective.

Analysis of rockburst mechanism and warning based on microseismic moment tensors and dynamic Bayesian networks

Haoyu Mao et al.

Summary: This study investigates the mechanism of microfractures during rockburst development and develops a rockburst warning model using field studies and analysis of microseismic events. The proposed model is validated using two case studies and demonstrates the effectiveness of the dynamic Bayesian network-based approach. It is found that fractures in the rock mass initially exhibit shear failure followed by tensile failure during rockburst development. The moment magnitude and source radius are identified as the most sensitive factors for rockburst warnings.

Stability analysis of surrounding rock mass in underground powerhouse considering damage effect of microfractures

Peiwei Xiao et al.

Summary: A high-precision microseismic monitoring system was established to monitor surrounding rock micro-fractures in the underground powerhouse of Shuangjiangkou Hydropower Station. Qualitative analysis of the damage mechanism of surrounding rock microfractures was conducted based on the source parameters of microseismic events. Numerical analysis using FLAC3D showed that considering microseismic damage can better reflect the actual situation of the field. The microfractures in the surrounding rock mainly exhibited mixed failure characteristics, with shear failures localized in certain areas and large fractures in the vault section.
