Precisely Tailoring a FAPbI3-Derived Ferroelectric for Sensitive Self-Driven Broad-Spectrum Polarized Photodetection

Zhijin Xu et al.

Summary: Benefiting from the superior properties of semiconductors and the angle-dependence of the bulk photovoltaic effect, two-dimensional hybrid perovskite ferroelectrics have been developed for sensitive self-powered polarized photodetection. A new ferroelectric material, (BA)2(FA)Pb2I7, showed high thermostability and broad-spectrum adsorption up to 650 nm, enabling ferroelectricity-driven self-powered polarized photodetection and exhibiting remarkable performance. This research will contribute to the development of new ferroelectrics for potential application in a wide range of polarization-based optoelectronics.

Controlled growth of perovskite layers with volatile alkylammonium chlorides

Jaewang Park et al.

Summary: Controlling the crystallinity and surface morphology of perovskite layers is crucial for achieving high-efficiency perovskite solar cells. By adding alkylammonium chlorides (RACl) to a-formamidinium lead iodide (FAPbI(3)), the crystallization process and surface morphology of the perovskite thin films can be controlled. The resulting perovskite thin layers facilitate the fabrication of perovskite solar cells with a high power-conversion efficiency of 26.08%.

One-stone-for-two-birds strategy to attain beyond 25% perovskite solar cells

Tinghuan Yang et al.

Summary: Despite the popularity of the perovskite solar cell for its high power conversion efficiency, its further development is hindered by issues such as long-term stability, large-area fabrication, and stable module efficiency. To address these challenges, the authors achieve in situ anion-fixation and undercoordinated-Pb passivation during crystallization using an amidino-based ligand. The resulting devices demonstrate a power conversion efficiency of 25.3% with improved stability.

Dredging the Charge-Carrier Transfer Pathway for Efficient Low-Dimensional Ruddlesden-Popper Perovskite Solar Cells

Pengwei Li et al.

Summary: Efficient exciton dissociation and charge transfer can be achieved in low-dimensional Ruddlesden-Popper (LDRP) perovskite by introducing gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) as a spacer. GABA forms hydrogen bonds to link adjacent spacing sheets, leading to charges localized in the van der Waals gap and constructing a charged-bridge for charge transfer. The GABA-based solar cell shows a champion power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 18.73% with enhanced carrier transport properties, and it also exhibits excellent long-term stability under continuous illumination and elevated temperature.

Symmetry Engineering Induced In-Plane Polarization in MoS2 through Van der Waals Interlayer Coupling

Xiaoming Zheng et al.

Summary: 2D materials with low-symmetry exhibit anisotropic physical properties, making them promising candidates for various applications. However, the lack of matured synthesis methods in anisotropic 2D materials is still the main obstacle to their future applications. Herein, a van der Waals symmetry engineering is used to introduce in-plane polarization in MoS2 through contact with low-symmetric CrOCl. The change in lattice symmetry is shown through the emergence of asymmetric second harmonic generation pattern in MoS2/CrOCl heterojunction. Theoretical simulation and experimental results confirm that the lattice-mismatch-induced uniaxial strain is responsible for the in-plane polarization in MoS2.
