Comprehensive evaluation of deep and graph learning on drug-drug interactions prediction

Xuan Lin et al.

Summary: Recent advances in AI and deep learning models have proven their usefulness in biomedical applications, specifically in predicting drug-drug interactions (DDIs). Traditional clinical trials and experiments for DDIs prediction are time-consuming and expensive. The application of AI and deep learning in this field faces challenges such as data availability and encoding, as well as computational method design. This review summarizes various methods for DDIs prediction and provides a comprehensive guide for researchers and developers.

MDF-SA-DDI: predicting drug-drug interaction events based on multi-source drug fusion, multi-source feature fusion and transformer self-attention mechanism

Shenggeng Lin et al.

Summary: One of the main problems with the joint use of multiple drugs is the potential for adverse drug interactions and side effects. This study proposes a novel method, MDF-SA-DDI, which predicts drug-drug interaction events using multi-source drug fusion, multi-source feature fusion, and transformer self-attention mechanism.

Drug-drug interaction prediction with learnable size-adaptive molecular substructures

Arnold K. Nyamabo et al.

Summary: Drug-drug interactions (DDIs) can have adverse effects on the body. Researchers introduce a method called GMPNN-CS, which uses a gated message passing neural network (GMPNN) to predict interactions between pairs of drugs. By learning chemical substructures from molecular graph representations, this method provides accurate predictions.

STNN-DDI: a Substructure-aware Tensor Neural Network to predict Drug-Drug Interactions

Hui Yu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel Substructure-aware Tensor Neural Network (STNN-DDI) model for predicting multiple-type drug-drug interactions (DDIs). By learning the associations between the local chemical structures of drugs and their DDI types, the STNN-DDI model achieves accurate DDI prediction and provides explanations for the interaction mechanisms among drugs.

Prediction of drug-drug interaction events using graph neural networks based feature extraction

Mohammad Hussain Al-Rabeah et al.

Summary: In this paper, a deep learning-based method called GNN-DDI is proposed to predict DDI-associated events by collecting drugs information and forming an attributed heterogeneous network. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms existing methods in the prediction of drug-drug interactions and better represents the intrinsic characteristics of a drug.

Long-term hybrid prediction method based on multiscale decomposition and granular computing for oxygen supply network

Pengwei Zhou et al.

Summary: An accurate long-term prediction of oxygen demand can provide guidance for planning and scheduling the real production of the steel industry. In this paper, a polynomial-feature granulation prediction method based on long short-term memory network (GLSTM) is first developed and uses quadratic polynomials to form linguistic descriptors for data granules and perform prediction with LSTM. Additionally, a long-term oxygen demand prediction method based on multiscale decomposition and granular computing for oxygen supply network is proposed and demonstrated to be effective in an industrial case study.

MedFused: A framework to discover the relationships between drug chemical functional group impacts and side effects

M. A. P. Chamikara et al.

Summary: It is well-known that long-term use of certain medications can lead to various side effects, ranging from mild dizziness to severe outcomes like death. Chemical composition, treatment method, and dosage are the main factors contributing to these side effects. Understanding the impact of chemical functional groups on side effects is crucial for synthesizing drugs with minimal adverse reactions.
