Health-Related Quality of Life of Patients With Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis at Least 40 Years After Surgery

Tsutomu Akazawa et al.

Summary: This retrospective study aimed to clarify the health-related quality of life (QOL) of patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) at a minimum of 40 years after surgery. The study found that the QOL of these patients remained good over the last 13 years, indicating relatively good QOL for middle-aged and older patients.

Population-based normative data for the Scoliosis Research Society 22r, EQ-5D, and VAS questionnaires among individuals aged 20 to 69 years

A. Tsirikos et al.

Summary: This study provides normative data for the SRS-22r, EQ-5D, and VAS for back/leg pain questionnaires among adults in the UK for the first time. We found an excellent correlation between the three assessment tools, with individuals reporting less back and leg pain having better quality of life and greater function. Age appears to be the major determinant for spinal health and quality of life, rather than sex or profession.

Very long-term clinical and radiographic outcomes after posterior spinal fusion with pedicular screws for thoracic adolescent idiopathic scoliosis

Alice Darnis et al.

Summary: This study retrospectively reviewed 109 adolescents treated surgically for thoracic idiopathic scoliosis using a hybrid construct. The results showed good radiographic and functional outcomes at a long-term follow-up of 20 years, with stable correction in the coronal plane and low incidence of degenerative changes below the fusion area.

Health-related quality of life and sagittal balance at two to 25 years after posterior transfixation for high-grade dysplastic spondylolisthesis

T. P. C. Schlosser et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the long-term outcomes of patients undergoing surgery for high-grade dysplastic spondylolisthesis with an all-posterior partial reduction, transfixation technique. The results showed improvements in spinal alignment and balance, with patients having a balanced pelvis achieving better clinical scores.
