Current developments in gastric cancer: from molecular profiling to treatment strategy

Maria Alsina et al.

Summary: Gastric cancer and gastro-oesophageal junction cancer pose a considerable healthcare challenge globally. Despite advancements in chemotherapy and surgery, these patients still have a poor prognosis. This review examines the molecular and clinical characteristics of these cancers and provides a comprehensive analysis of previous and ongoing clinical trials involving targeted agents and immunotherapy. Alternative strategies to improve precision medicine and patient outcomes are also discussed.

Exosomal circCARM1 from spheroids reprograms cell metabolism by regulating PFKFB2 in breast cancer

Yonglei Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the role of circular RNA (circRNAs) from breast cancer stem cell (BCSC) exosomes in breast cancer cell metabolism reprogramming. The results show that circCARM1 in BCSC exosomes plays an important role in breast cancer cell glycolysis through miR-1252-5p/PFKFB2 regulation.

UBR5 promotes tumor immune evasion through enhancing IFN-γ-induced PDL1 transcription in triple negative breast cancer

Bingbing Wu et al.

Summary: This study identifies UBR5 as a key regulator of PD-L1 transcription induced by IFN-gamma and elucidates the underlying molecular mechanisms, providing a strong rationale for combination cancer immunotherapies targeting UBR5 and PD-L1.

Helicobacter pylori induces gastric cancer via down-regulating miR-375 to inhibit dendritic cell maturation

Zhenxing Zhang et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that Helicobacter pylori inhibits the expression of miRNA-375 in the stomach, leading to the activation of the JAK2-STAT3 pathway. This pathway promotes the secretion of IL-6, IL-10, and VEGF, resulting in immature differentiation of DCs and the induction of gastric cancer.

MiR-375 reduces the stemness of gastric cancer cells through triggering ferroptosis

Haiwei Ni et al.

Summary: The study revealed that miR-375 can reduce the stemness of gastric cancer cells by targeting SLC7A11 and triggering ferroptosis. The miR-375/SLC7A11 regulatory axis may serve as a potential therapeutic target to attenuate the stemness of gastric cancer cells.
