Patients' roles in governance of learning: Results from a qualitative study of 16 learning healthcare systems

Creativity in problem solving to improve complex health outcomes: Insights from hospitals seeking to improve cardiovascular care

Summary: This qualitative study explored how creativity was fostered during problem solving in hospitals participating in a collaborative to improve cardiovascular care outcomes. Participants reported examples of creativity at different stages of problem solving, and teams used three prominent behaviors to construct an ecological view of the care process. This approach helped to enhance understanding of relationships between individual care providers, organizational sub-units, and their environment.

Does racism impact healthcare quality? Perspectives of Black and Hispanic/Latino Patients

Summary: An analysis of a nationally representative sample of 1003 U.S. Black and Hispanic/Latino households in 2020 reveals that experiencing racism in healthcare is linked to poorer quality of healthcare and reduced trust in doctors as reported by patients. These findings stress the need for significant efforts to eradicate racism among healthcare professionals and institutions in order to improve healthcare for Black and Hispanic/Latino patients.
