Low-Energy Shock Wave Suppresses Prostatic Pain and Inflammation by Modulating Mitochondrial Dynamics Regulators on a Carrageenan-Induced Prostatitis Model in Rats

Zong-Sheng Wu et al.

Summary: Low-energy shock wave (LESW) treatment has therapeutic effects on chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS), and this study investigated its mechanism of action. In a rat model of carrageenan-induced prostatitis, LESW treatment suppressed prostatic pain, inflammatory reaction, and expression of sensory molecules. These findings suggest a link between the neuroinflammatory effects of LESW in CP/CPPS and imbalances in mitochondrial dynamics in the prostate.

HA/CD44 Regulates the T Helper 1 Cells Differentiation by Activating Annexin A1/Akt/mTOR Signaling to Drive the Pathogenesis of EAP

Jing Chen et al.

Summary: This study reveals the significant role of CD44 and hyaluronan (HA) in the pathogenesis of chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS). CD44 is found to be universally expressed in CD4(+) lymphocytes of CP/CPPS patients. Silencing CD44 or administering 4-methylumbelliferone (4-MU) leads to significant relief in pain severity and prostatic inflammation. The study also uncovers the regulatory role of HA/CD44 in T helper 1 (Th1) cell differentiation, which affects the susceptibility of experimental autoimmune prostatitis (EAP).

Gut Microflora Modulates Th17/Treg Cell Differentiation in Experimental Autoimmune Prostatitis via the Short-Chain Fatty Acid Propionate

He-Xi Du et al.

Summary: Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) is an immune-mediated disease, and dysbiosis of gut microflora may contribute to the imbalance of Th17/Treg cell differentiation. Propionic acid may play an important role in CP/CPPS.

Casein Kinase II exacerbates rheumatoid arthritis via promoting Th1 and Th17 cell inflammatory responses

Hua Ye et al.

Summary: Studies have shown that CK2 plays a role in CD4(+) T cell proliferation and activation. In this study, it was found that CK2 expression is upregulated in CD4(+) T cells under RA conditions. Treatment with CX4945 inhibited Th1 and Th17 cell responses while promoting Th2 cell responses in RA patients and CIA mice, leading to a decrease in IFN-gamma and IL-17A production. Additionally, CX4945 treatment reduced the severity of arthritis in CIA mice by decreasing Th1 and Th17 cells, with minimal effect on RA Treg cells.

Pathogenic Roles of CXCL10 in Experimental Autoimmune Prostatitis by Modulating Macrophage Chemotaxis and Cytokine Secretion

Xiaoliang Hua et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that CXCL10 plays a crucial role in promoting macrophage migration and secretion of proinflammatory mediators via CXCR3-mediated ERK and p38 MAPK activation, contributing to inflammatory infiltration and pain symptoms in prostatitis.

ZEB1 promotes pathogenic Th1 and Th17 cell differentiation in multiple sclerosis

Yuan Qian et al.

Summary: Inappropriate CD4(+) T cell differentiation can affect immune response and autoimmune diseases. The study identified a key role for Zinc finger E-box-binding homeobox (ZEB1) in regulating autoimmune inflammation, particularly through inhibition of JAK-STAT signaling. ZEB1 and JAK2 downregulation reduces pathogenic cytokine expression in T cells from MS patients, suggesting a potential targetable mechanism for regulating disease-related inflammation.
