Predicting different types of parental involvement in children's homework: the role of parent motivational beliefs and parent affect

Adaptation and Spanish validation of the scale of positive parental practices of the Caregiver (SP plus C), in the version for 0 to 3 years

Summary: This study adapted and validated the Positive Parental Practices of the Caregiver scale for children aged 0-3 years. The scale was cross-culturally adapted and validated using a sample of 950 participants. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were conducted, confirming the factor structure of the scale. The final validated scale consists of 27 items and 7 subscales, with adequate psychometric properties for assessing parental competences in parents of young children.

Parents' and children's perception of self-efficacy and parental support are related to children's physical activity: a cross-sectional study of parent-child dyads

Summary: Numerous studies have demonstrated the importance of parenting behaviors in children's engagement in physical activities. However, the role of children's perception of parenting behaviors and the interaction between parenting behaviors and personal factors are still not well-established. This study examined the differences in perception of parental support between children and parents, its relationship to children's physical activity, and the influence of self-efficacy in both children and parents. The results showed poor agreement between children's and parents' perception of parental support, and only children's perception was associated with their physical activity. Furthermore, parents' self-efficacy beliefs were related to both children's and parents' perception of parental support and indirectly influenced children's physical activity. These findings highlight the importance of considering both parents' and children's variables in understanding the influence of family environment on children's health-related behaviors.

Psychometric analysis of a scale for the detection of violence in dating relationships in young people

Summary: The purpose of this research is to adapt and validate an instrument to analyze the typology and incidence of violence in young couples. The study conducted using exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) revealed that the new version of the instrument, consisting of 20 items and five dimensions, has acceptable validity and reliability. The structural equations model showed consistency and coherence with the theoretical starting assumptions.

Mothering and Fathering, or just Parenting: Measurement Invariance of Parental Beliefs by Gender

Summary: The study used factor analytic techniques to examine the measurement invariance of parental beliefs by gender, finding that certain parenting beliefs showed systematic differences between mothers and fathers. Specifically, beliefs related to facilitating children's independence and beliefs related to structure were found to be invariant, while beliefs related to connection showed gender differences. Testing invariance helps researchers identify which aspects of parenting are similar and which are different between mothers and fathers.
