Student and Parent Perceptions of Government-Funded Private Special Education Schools

Halis Sakiz et al.

Summary: The survey revealed mixed feelings among parents and students with disabilities regarding the quality of special education offered in private special education institutions. While parents were generally satisfied with the opportunities for free special education, there were concerns about the use of government resources, teaching quality, environment, attitudes towards SWD, inspection and supervision, and policy implementation. These findings highlight the need to reassess the quality of education in private special education centers and explore ways to enhance the overall quality level.

Definition, Context, Quality: Current Issues in Research Examining High-Quality Inclusive Education

Hailey R. Love et al.

Summary: Recent efforts to promote inclusive education have shifted focus from placement to considering various contexts. Understanding that inclusive education can occur in different early childhood education settings requires consideration of context as a potential factor influencing its implementation quality. Recognizing the importance of both global and inclusion quality in assessing and supporting quality within inclusive classrooms is crucial for advancing high-quality inclusive education, but these two facets are often not considered together. Challenges in inclusive education research include operationalizing inclusive education independently of physical placement, ensuring adequate consideration of context, and appropriately measuring quality. Recommendations for future research aim to further advance knowledge of high-quality inclusive education in the field.
