Synthesis of Tetrathiophosphates from White Phosphorus

Jiali He et al.

Summary: A transition-metal-free one-pot direct synthesis of tetrathiophosphates from white phosphorus is achieved by coupling with disulfides and alkyl halides. S-(2-cyanoethyl)-substituted tetrathiophosphates are successfully used as tetrathiophosphorylation reagents for the reaction with diaryl iodonium salts.

BF3-Et2O Promoted Heteronucleophilic Addition Reactions for the Synthesis of Unsymmetrical gem-Diarylmethyl Thioethers

Sajjad Ahmed et al.

Summary: In this study, the activation of diphenyl phosphite by BF3/BF4(-) resulted in the formation of thionium ions from aldehydes and thiophenols. These reactive species then reacted with in situ generated phenol, leading to the synthesis of diarylmethyl thioethers. It was found that the addition of external phenol in the reaction yielded unsymmetrical gem-diarylmethyl thioethers in good yields.

Formation of N-P(O)-S Bonds from White Phosphorus via a Four-Component Reaction

Yue Zhang et al.

Summary: Functionalization of white phosphorus with disulfides, amines and KOH leads to the formation of phosphoramidodithioates containing multiple bonds, including P-N, P-S and P=O. This four-component reaction has high yields and offers an attractive approach to the synthesis of valuable N-P(O)-S motifs using a one-step strategy. The advantages of this reaction include a clean reaction profile, complete conversion of white phosphorus, and an environmentally friendly system that is free from transition metals and halogens. Additionally, phosphoramidodithioates can be utilized to construct P-C, P-O and P=S bonds with appropriate reagents.

Coupling of 1-Chloro-N,N-diisopropylphosphanamine-Based Reagents with Alcohols and Thiosulfonates: A Precise Construction of O-P(O)-S Bonds

Feroze Hussain et al.

Summary: In this study, we present the first mild and one-step direct synthesis of mixed phosphorothioates through the selective generation of O-P(O)-S bonds at room temperature without the need for additives. Additionally, we demonstrate an alternative dimerization strategy using reactions between different model natural products and 1,1-dichloro-N,N-diisopropylphosphanamine. The methodology was also successfully extended to the synthesis of mixed phosphoroselenoates and mixed phosphorothioates bearing two different alcohols.

Cesium carbonate-catalyzed synthesis of phosphorothioates via S-phosphination of thioketones

Ze-Wei Chen et al.

Summary: A highly efficient and environmentally-friendly catalytic method for the synthesis of S-benzhydryl-phosphorothioates has been reported. This method involves the direct thiophilic addition reaction of phosphite nucleophiles with diarylmethanethione, without the need for transition metal catalysts. The reaction yields the corresponding phosphorothioates in good to excellent yields, with a wide variety of thioketones and phosphite derivatives.

Aikaterini Pagoni et al.

Summary: A new class of bifunctional inhibitors of bacterial ureases was developed in this study, showing complex structure-dependent kinetics of inhibition. One compound in particular exhibited remarkably reactive inhibition against a specific urease enzyme. The compounds also demonstrated potential in whole-cell inhibition assays, with some showing slow-binding and reversible kinetics.
