Beyond a trauma-informed approach and towards shame-sensitive practice

Luna Dolezal et al.

Summary: This article introduces the concept of shame-sensitivity and principles for shame-sensitive practice for the first time. It argues that shame-sensitive practice is essential in the trauma-informed approach, as trauma is a significant public health issue with numerous negative social and health outcomes. The article highlights the influence of shame on post-trauma states and suggests that the trauma-informed approach should address shame more effectively through the concept of shame-sensitivity.
