Therapeutic benefits of lower limb prostheses: a systematic review

Elke Lathouwers et al.

Summary: This study aims to systematically review the impact of passive, quasi-passive, and active ankle-foot prostheses on the quality of life of people with lower limb amputation. The results indicate that quasi-passive and active prostheses are superior to passive prostheses in terms of biomechanical, physiological, performance, and subjective measures in the short-term. However, all studies have a moderate or high risk of bias.

Personalized 3D-printed guide in malignant bone tumor resection and following reconstruction-17 cases in pelvic and extremities

Chao Dong et al.

Summary: This study retrospectively reviewed 17 patients who underwent limb salvage surgery using 3D-printed guides. The results showed that the 3D-printed resection guide was easy to use and showed promise in the field of orthopedic oncology. Successful limb salvage results were achieved, with a high rate of good bone healing and wide resection margins, though complications such as wound healing disorder and infection were observed.
