Resveratrol inhibits Toxoplasma gondii-induced lung injury, inflammatory cascade and evidences of its mechanism of action

Yu Nan Lu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the inhibitory effects of resveratrol (RSV) on the proliferation of Toxoplasma gondii and T.g.HSP70 expression, as well as the amelioration of lung injury caused by T. gondii infection through the intervention of T.g.HSP70 and HMGB1-mediated TLR4/NF-kappa B signaling pathway activation.

Coixol ameliorates Toxoplasma gondii infection-induced lung injury by interfering with T. gondii HSP70/TLR4/NF-?B signaling pathway

Xin-Yu Shen et al.

Summary: This study found that coixol has a protective effect on lung injury caused by Toxoplasma gondii infection. It reduces the recruitment and infiltration of inflammatory cells and improves pathological lung injury. Coixol can directly bind to T.g.HSP70 or Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) to disrupt their interaction. By interfering with the T.g.HSP70-mediated TLR4/NF-kappa B signaling pathway, coixol improves lung injury caused by T. gondii infection and shows promise for the treatment of toxoplasmosis.

Ginsenoside Rh2 reduces depression in offspring of mice with maternal toxoplasma infection during pregnancy by inhibiting microglial activation via the HMGB1/TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway

Xiang Xu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that GRh2 ameliorated depression-like behavior in mouse offspring of maternal T. gondii infection during pregnancy by attenuating excessive microglial activation and neuroinflammation through the HMGB1/TLR4/NF-kappa B signaling pathway. It suggests that GRh2 could be considered a potential therapy in preventing and treating psychiatric disorders in the offspring of mothers with prenatal exposure to T. gondii infection.

New role of sertraline against Toxoplasma gondii-induced depression-like behaviours in mice

Hui-Wen Lan et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of sertraline (SERT) on T. gondii-induced depression-like behaviors, revealing that SERT ameliorated depression-like behaviors in T. gondii-infected mice by inhibiting parasite proliferation and regulating microglial activation. The study also identified the underlying molecular mechanisms involved in the protective role of SERT against T. gondii-induced depression-like behaviors, shedding light on potential therapeutic strategies.

Summary: The study demonstrated the significant prophylactic effects of ASEO in increasing survival rate and reducing parasite load in mice with acute toxoplasmosis. ASEO also promoted the innate immune system, regulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and inhibition of hepatic injury in the infected mice. Further research is needed to fully understand the prophylactic and therapeutic mechanisms of ASEO against Toxoplasma.

NF-κB: At the Borders of Autoimmunity and Inflammation

Laura Barnabei et al.

Summary: NF-kappa B transcription factor plays a crucial role in regulating various aspects of innate and adaptive immune functions, serving as a key mediator of immune homeostasis. It is involved in central and peripheral tolerance, as well as the inactivation and destruction of autoreactive immune cells, contributing to immune tolerance. Furthermore, NF-kappa B plays a role in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases and has informed new therapeutic approaches for treating these conditions.
