Organic solvent nanofiltration with nanoparticles aggregation based on electrostatic interaction for molecular separation

Summary: In this study, separation nanochannels were successfully constructed on the surface of PAN substrate membranes by coating quaternized P(VC-r-DMAEMA) (Q-PVD) nanoparticles and hydrolyzed polyacrylonitrile (HPAN) substrates. The types of substrates and concentrations of nanoparticles were optimized to achieve proper performance. The obtained thin-film nanocomposite (TFN) membranes demonstrated excellent stability in various organic solvents and high retention rates for specific molecular weight dyes. This composite membrane shows great potential in the field of OSN.

Summary: Novel TFN membranes were developed by incorporating amine-rich synthetic talc (NHST) nanosheets within diethylenetriamine (DETA) and trimesoyl chloride (TMC) monomers over a polydopamine (PDA) coating layer. The in-situ synthesized NHST nanosheet phases were confirmed by various characterization techniques, and the results showed improved permeability and rejection with a small amount of NHST doping in the TFN layer.

In this study, Cu-TCPP nanosheets were grown on a commercial PVDF microfiltration substrate and used as a substrate for interfacial polymerization. The resulting PVDF/i-Cu-TCPP/PA membrane showed high tensile strength and permeance compared to the PVDF/e-Cu-TCPP/PA membrane.

Pore structure design and optimization of electrospun PMIA nanofiber membrane

The process of solvent welding and heat pressing was easily regulated. The study also demonstrated the size sieving decolorization mechanism of the membranes, along with excellent anti-bacterial performance and long-term stability in dye/salt system separation.
