Integrated Modeling of US Agricultural Soil Emissions of Reactive Nitrogen and Associated Impacts on Air Pollution, Health, and Climate

Lina Luo et al.

Summary: Agricultural soils are major sources of reactive nitrogen species, which have variable impacts on health and climate. This study compares the air quality impacts and climate impacts of nitrogen emissions across different regions. The results show that air quality impacts are larger in heavily populated areas, while they are smaller in sparsely populated areas.

Hybrid Gas Sensor Array to Identify and Quantify Low-Concentration VOCs Mixtures Commonly Found in Chemical Industrial Parks

Linjie Xu et al.

Summary: This study constructed a hybrid sensor array consisting of six gas sensors to measure VOCs emissions in chemical industrial parks. Support vector machine and back-propagation artificial neural network were trained and evaluated, and the results showed that the models based on steady-state responses performed the best. This method shows promise for low-cost and online monitoring of VOCs emissions.

Sources of Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Agriculture, with Particular Emphasis on Emissions from Energy Used

Piotr Golasa et al.

Summary: The relationship between agriculture and climate change is complex, with agriculture being both heavily impacted by climate change and a major emitter of greenhouse gases. A study based on FADN data aimed to analyze greenhouse gas emissions in farms and identify areas for emission reduction, highlighting livestock production as a significant source of emissions compared to energy production. Efforts to reduce emissions should focus on livestock production rather than energy use, except for certain types of farms such as horticultural ones where energy emissions are dominant.
