Chromium doped broad-band near-infrared emission Mg4Ta2O9: Cr3+phosphor excited by blue light for NIR-LEDs

Xin Ding et al.

Summary: A novel Cr3+-doped Mg4Ta2O9 system that emits NIR light around 850 nm under blue light excitation at 460 nm was synthesized. The material has a broad emission spectrum with a FWHM of 178 nm, covering the first and second NIR regions. The structure, luminescence properties, and applications of this NIR luminescent material were studied in detail. NIR light-emitting optical devices were fabricated by combining with blue InGaN chips, and their potential applications in biological tissue penetration and non-destructive testing were demonstrated.

Evaluation of scintillation properties of Mg4(Ta,Nb)2O9 single crystals

Taisei Hayashi et al.

Summary: Mg-4(Ta,Nb)(2)O-9 single crystals were synthesized and their photoluminescence and scintillation properties were evaluated. The Mg4Ta2O9 crystal emitted light at 350nm under X-ray irradiation, while the Nb-contained samples emitted light at 400nm. The decay curves indicated a decay time in the order of microseconds. Among the samples, Mg4Ta1.5Nb0.5O9 showed the highest light yield of 22,000 ph/MeV and the lowest afterglow levels of around 10 ppm.

Visible-Near Infrared Scintillation Properties of Er-Doped Bi4Si3O12 Single Crystals

Kensei Ichiba et al.

Summary: We synthesized different concentrations of Er-doped Bi4Si3O12 single crystals and studied their photoluminescence and scintillation properties. The samples showed absorption peaks in transmission spectra due to the transitions of Er3+ ions. The emissions in photoluminescence and scintillation properties were caused by transitions of Bi3+ and Er3+ ions. The 2.0% Er-doped sample had the highest scintillation intensity among all the samples.

Er-Doped Mg4Ta2O9 Single-Crystal Scintillators Emitting Near-Infrared Photons for High-Dose Field Monitoring

Taisei Hayashi et al.

Summary: Mg4Ta2O9 single crystals doped with 0.01, 0.1, and 1% Er were grown using the floating zone method. Their photoluminescence and scintillation properties were studied, confirming the presence of a hexagonal structure and emission peaks at 1550 nm due to 4f-4f transitions of Er3+ ions. The samples also exhibited scintillation with a broad emission band at 350 nm and detection limits of 0.06 Gy/h for scintillation detector applications.

Yunfeng Ma et al.

Summary: Mg4Ta2O9:x at % M (M = Hf4+, Zr4+, W6+, Mo6+; x = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) with single phase were synthesized via the solid-state reactions and characterized by various techniques. The doping ions entered different sites in the crystal structure and showed efficient excitation and emission properties. Mg4Ta2O9:1 at % Hf4+ exhibited excellent X-ray scintillation performance, making it a potential candidate for optical conversion devices and security inspection.

Scintillation properties of Yb-doped Bi4Ge3O12 single crystals emitting near-infrared luminescence

Kai Okazaki et al.

Summary: Yb-doped Bi4Ge3O12 (BGO) single crystals were synthesized with different dopant concentrations, and their photoluminescence (PL) and scintillation properties in the visible to near-infrared (NIR) wavelength ranges were evaluated. The results showed that 0.5% and 1% Yb-doped BGO exhibited good linearity in the dynamic range from 0.006 to 60 Gy h(-1) and demonstrated excellent PL and scintillation performance.
