New machine learning and physics-based scoring functions for drug discovery

Isabella A. Guedes et al.

Summary: Scoring functions are crucial for in silico drug discovery, but accurate prediction of binding affinity remains a challenge. Developing scoring functions based on precise physics-based descriptors is necessary to improve prediction accuracy.

Design, Synthesis of Biaryl Piperidine Derivatives and Their Evaluation as Potential Antileishmanial Agents against Leishmania donovani Strain Ag83

Bethi Rathnakar et al.

Summary: A new series of simple biaryl piperidine derivatives based on biaryl naphthylisoquinoline alkaloid Ealamine-A were developed and evaluated for antileishmanial activity. Compounds 14 and 16 showed the best inhibition against Leishmania donovani strain Ag83, while compounds 12, 15, and 18 exhibited lower activity due to solubility issues. Molecular docking studies indicated that active compounds may act by binding to Leishmanolysin.
