Facilitators and barriers to fitness bootcamp participation using the Behaviour Change Wheel

Leo De Winter et al.

Summary: This qualitative study conducted in England included interviews with 15 long-term fitness bootcamp participants, identifying 17 facilitators and 6 barriers to long-term participation. The importance of factors such as convenience, being outdoors, and enjoyment were highlighted by participants, with the social environment and positive instructor/supportive group members also playing key roles. Occasional barriers such as physical injury, bad weather, and competing events could be minimized through appropriate behavior change techniques.
