Summary: This study aimed to examine the mediating role of body surveillance and body shame in the relationship between self-compassion and body image disturbance among young breast cancer patients. A total of 310 young women with breast cancer were recruited, and they completed self-report measurements of demographic and clinical characteristics, self-compassion scale, body image self-rating questionnaire for breast cancer, body surveillance scale, and body shame scale. The results showed that lower self-compassion was significantly associated with greater body image disturbance, and there was a positive correlation between body image disturbance, body surveillance, and body shame. Self-compassion indirectly predicted body image disturbance through the chain mediation of body surveillance and body shame. Improving patients' self-compassion may be an effective measure to reduce body image disturbance by reducing excessive body surveillance and body shame.

Summary: Research on physical, cognitive, and psychosocial resilience in older cancer patients is still in its early stages, with heterogeneity in definitions and measures found in existing literature. Future studies need to establish standardized definitions and measurements to better understand the mechanisms underlying the response to the physical, cognitive, and psychosocial stressors of cancer and its treatments.

Summary: This study analyzed the psychological and emotional changes in breast cancer patients of different ages before and after surgery using data analysis. Retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 363 patients who underwent radical mastectomy for breast cancer from December 2019 to December 2021. The patients' psychological and emotional changes were evaluated using the mental health symptom self-rating scale, and their quality of life was assessed using the World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL)-BREF. The results showed that surgical treatment had little impact on the psychological mood of breast cancer patients, but there were significant differences in quality of life among patients of different ages before and after surgery, suggesting the need for targeted clinical intervention.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed and synthesized existing qualitative research evidence to describe the survival experience of patients undergoing oesophagectomy during recovery. The results identified several challenges faced by patients, including physical and mental burdens, impaired social functioning, lack of knowledge and skills in post-discharge care, and the need for external support. The findings provide evidence-based support for nurses to carry out targeted interventions and reference methods for patients with oesophageal cancer to rebuild their lives.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of initial risk classes and heterogeneous trajectories of self-compassion during the pandemic on well-being outcomes one year into the pandemic. The results indicated that higher levels of self-compassion over time may protect against the impact of initial risk factors on well-being outcomes. Further research is needed to explore heterogeneity in experiences of risk and protective factors during stressful life events.

Summary: This study examined the psychosocial adjustment of young to middle-aged women newly diagnosed with breast cancer and identified comprehensive risk factors contributing to psychosocial adjustment. The results showed a moderate level of psychosocial maladjustment among participants, with a significant portion experiencing severe maladjustment. The study identified coping modes, social support, and self-efficacy as factors impacting psychosocial adjustment. Healthcare professionals should focus on psychosocial adjustment in this population and develop interventions to increase self-efficacy, promote social support, and encourage effective coping.

Summary: The study aims to improve the quality of life in elderly patients with lung cancer by understanding the relationships between uncertainty, appraisal of uncertainty, self-efficacy, and quality of life. The factors affecting the quality of life were analyzed based on Mishel's theory using data from 112 lung cancer patients aged 65 or older receiving anticancer therapy. The results showed that factors such as anticancer therapy, economic condition, education, self-efficacy, and appraisal of uncertainty influenced the quality of life with a explanatory power of 74.2%.

Summary: This study found that perceived stigma and self-efficacy are positively associated with psychosocial adjustment (PA) among nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) survivors. Self-efficacy also mediates the relationship between stigma and PA. Medical staff can improve the PA of NPC survivors by alleviating their stigma, enhancing their self-efficacy, and relieving their late toxicities.

The results showed that participants in the screening had significantly higher levels of anxiety and depression compared to the control group, especially at baseline and after knowing the pathological results. Therefore, more attention should be given to participants waiting for the screening and improvements should be made in informing the screening results in order to reduce the psychological impact.
