SO2-Induced Alkali Resistance of FeVO4/TiO2 Catalysts for NOx Reduction

Zhiping Si et al.

Summary: This study reveals the phenomenon of K migration induced by SO2 on K-poisoned catalysts, which buffers the effect of alkali poison and restores activity, leading to an increased conversion of NOx. The sulfuration process helps to release the active sites poisoned by K2O, thereby enhancing the catalyst activity.

Catalytic oxidation of chlorobenzene and PCDD/Fs over V2O5-WO3/TiO2: insights into the component effect and reaction mechanism

Yu Qin et al.

Summary: This study investigates the catalytic oxidation of chlorobenzene using titania-supported catalysts with different vanadium-tungsten contents. The results suggest that V2O5 is the main active component for chlorobenzene oxidation, and the doping of WO3 affects the valence distributions of vanadium, leading to a bimetallic synergistic effect. In addition, the study proposes a reaction mechanism for the catalytic oxidation of chlorobenzene and shows that the addition of WO3 helps break the C-Cl bond. The catalysts also demonstrate good catalytic activity in the oxidation of PCDD/Fs, with the reaction temperature affecting the degradation efficiency.

Summary: This study analyzes the synergistic effect of sulfur (S) and alkali metals (K) on the V2O5/TiO2 (VTi) catalyst for the NH3 selective catalytic reduction (NH3-SCR) reaction. It is found that the presence of S and K exhibits a detoxification effect, alleviating the alkali metal poisoning of commercial catalysts.

Summary: MXene-derived photocatalysts have the potential for developing photo-driven green and sustainable fuel production, but their efficiency is currently low. In this study, a ternary photocatalyst derived from Nb2C MXene was synthesized, leading to improved efficiency and stability in photocatalytic hydrogen production. The optimized ternary photocatalyst composite exhibited the highest H-2 evolution efficiency and maintained high activity after multiple cycles.

Simultaneous hydrogen production with the selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde by a noble-metal-free photocatalyst VC/CdS nanowires

Muhammad Tayyab et al.

Summary: In this study, CdS nanowires were combined with vanadium carbide using a specific method, and it was found that the photocatalytic activity of the CdS nanowires was significantly enhanced when loaded with vanadium carbide, especially for simultaneous production of H2 and selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol into benzaldehyde. Additionally, the vanadium carbide loading also reduced the recombination rate of hydrogen and benzaldehyde. The results of this study demonstrate the importance of this method in achieving commercialization of photocatalytic hydrogen production.

Ca Doping Effect on the Competition of NH3-SCR and NH3 Oxidation Reactions over Vanadium-Based Catalysts

Yang Zheng et al.

Summary: The poisoning effect of Ca limits the further application of vanadium-based catalysts in high-calcium content flue gas. CaO doping deteriorates the surface acid sites and oxidation/reduction properties of V2O5-WO3/TiO2 (VWT) and V2O5/TiO2 (VT) catalysts, leading to a decrease in NO conversion during NH3-SCR, with NH3 oxidation becoming more competitive at higher temperatures.

Impact of co-processing sewage sludge on cement kiln NOx emissions reduction

Yunhui Gu et al.

Summary: This study experimentally analyzed changes in NOx concentration in a cement kiln simulation with sewage sludge additions under different temperature and oxygen content levels. It found that the most significant reduction of NOx emission was achieved at 900 degrees C and 3% oxygen content level, mainly due to the conversion of NOx to N-2 by reducing substances released via the decomposition of free ammonia and protein in sludge. The study also demonstrated the effectiveness of adding sewage sludge to the precalciner in reducing NOx emissions during the co-processing in cement kilns.
