The evolution of mandatory continuing professional development (CPD) for diagnostic radiographers in Ireland - A longitudinal study

Summary: This study reports on the changes in CPD perception and practices among diagnostic radiographers in Ireland before and after the introduction of state registration and mandatory CPD. The survey results showed a decrease in the overall importance of CPD among radiographers, with attendance-based activities remaining the most popular. The respondents also indicated a decline in enthusiasm for CPD and a decreased willingness to undertake CPD outside of working hours. The primary barrier to CPD shifted from funding to time constraints.

Faculty and staff reporting & disclosure of sexual harassment in higher education

Summary: Sexual harassment in the workplace is a clear form of gender discrimination, but it is rarely reported among faculty and staff at US universities. Little is known about what drives reporting and disclosure behaviors in higher education institutions. This study found that nearly 40% of the sample did not report or disclose the harassment, and among those who did, they mainly chose people outside the workplace. The reasons for not reporting included not considering the event serious enough, concerns of not being taken seriously, and thinking that nothing would be done.
