7,8-Dihydroxyflavone Attenuates Inflammatory Response and Insulin Resistance Induced by the Paracrine Interaction between Adipocytes and Macrophages

Ye-Eun Shin et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of 7,8-dihydroxyflavone (7,8-DHF), a flavone found in plants, on the inflammatory response and insulin resistance induced by the interaction between adipocytes and macrophages. The results showed that 7,8-DHF can counteract the changes induced by this interaction and effectively improve the responsiveness of adipocytes to insulin.

GPR68 Improves Nerve Damage and Myelination in an Immature Rat Model Induced by Sevoflurane Anesthesia by Activating cAMP/CREB to Mediate BDNF

Dan Zhao et al.

Summary: The study found that GPR68 can alleviate sevoflurane-induced nerve damage and myelination through the BDNF-mediated cAMP/CREB pathway, promoting the increase of neurons and improvement of learning and memory function.

Testosterone attenuates sevoflurane-induced tau phosphorylation and cognitive impairment in neonatal male mice

Yongyan Yang et al.

Summary: The study showed that lower brain testosterone concentrations in neonatal male mice compared to adult male mice contributed to age-dependent tau phosphorylation and cognitive impairment after sevoflurane anesthesia. Testosterone treatment increased brain testosterone concentrations and alleviated anesthesia-induced tau phosphorylation and cognitive impairment.

Anesthesia and the Developing Brain: A Review of Sevoflurane-induced Neurotoxicity in Pediatric Populations Comment

Carol Apai et al.

Summary: Recent studies have raised concerns about potential neurotoxic effects of general anesthetics, particularly on the developing brain in pediatric and elderly populations. There is a need to adjust the dose and duration of sevoflurane to minimize the risk of adverse effects, indicating a greater demand for understanding its limitations as an anesthetic agent.

Flavones 7,8-DHF, Quercetin, and Apigenin Against Tau Toxicity via Activation of TRKB Signaling in ΔK280 TauRD-DsRed SH-SY5Y Cells

Ni-Ni Chiang et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the Tau aggregation inhibitory activity and neuroprotection of four natural flavones in SH-SY5Y neuroblastoma cells. Among them, 7,8-DHF, quercetin, and apigenin showed promising results in reducing Tau aggregation, oxidative stress, and promoting neurite outgrowth. The neuroprotective effects of these flavones were mediated through HSPB1, NRF2, and TRKB pathways, providing new potential treatment strategies for Alzheimer's disease.

Dihydroartemisinin Induces O-GlcNAcylation and Improves Cognitive Function in a Mouse Model of Tauopathy

Lei Xia et al.

Summary: Our study demonstrates that DHA has neuroprotective effects on learning and memory deficits in tauopathy mice by promoting protein O-GlcNAcylation modification and reducing protein phosphorylation. These findings suggest a potential therapeutic strategy for tau pathology-related cognitive impairments.
