Exploring the Views of Mothers of Children Diagnosed with Developmental Disabilities: A Qualitative Investigation into Social Participation and Support Perceptions in Türkiye

Pathways to Inclusion: Exploring Early Childhood School Administrators' Attitudes towards Including Children with Disabilities in Turkiye

Summary: This study investigated the attitudes of Turkish early childhood school administrators towards the inclusion of young children with disabilities and the factors that may influence their attitudes. The findings showed that administrators have a moderately positive attitude towards inclusion in their schools. Variables such as gender, education, administrative role, and location of the school predicted their attitudes, with female administrators, those with a bachelor's degree in early childhood education, principals, and those who worked in urban schools having more favorable attitudes. The study also found that administrators' attitudes towards inclusion were closely related to their values in relation to diversity and equity, beliefs regarding support for inclusion, and previous positive inclusive experiences, professional development, and training on inclusion and leadership skills.

Gender inequality, the welfare state, disability, and distorted commodification of care in Turkey

Summary: This study examines the specificities of the Turkish care regime and provides insights into long-term disability care, highlighting the ambiguity of care services and the positional suffering experienced by caregivers and recipients. By focusing on these issues, it sheds light on the outcomes of distorted commodification of care in Turkey, particularly in terms of visibility, work valuation, working conditions, and gender inequality.

Spirituality as a coping method for mothers of children with developmental disabilities

Summary: This study found that mothers of children with developmental disabilities in Turkey often use spirituality as a coping method to handle the stress of their new lives. By using spirituality, they were able to find meaning and purpose in their lives, as well as experience enhanced feelings of love and commitment towards their children. However, their greatest concern was the fate of their children after the parents had passed away.
