Thromboembolic complications in autoimmune hemolytic anemia: Retrospective study

Deborah Tabita Schaer et al.

Summary: This retrospective study investigated the incidence of thromboembolic events and the relation to complement activation in a cohort of 77 AIHA patients. The results showed that AIHA is associated with an increased risk of thromboembolic events, but there was no correlation with complement activation.

Survival in autoimmune hemolytic anemia remains poor, results from a nationwide cohort with 37 years of follow-up

Dennis Lund Hansen et al.

Summary: All types of autoimmune hemolytic anemia are associated with increased overall and cause-specific mortality compared to the general population. This likely reflects unmet needs in both treatment and follow-up programs.

Intravascular hemolysis and multitreatment predict thrombosis in patients with autoimmune hemolytic anemia

Bruno Fattizzo et al.

Summary: Thrombosis was observed in approximately 11% of AIHA patients, mainly associated with intravascular hemolysis, need for transfusions, multiple treatments, and infections. The study suggests considering primary anticoagulant prophylaxis in these cases.

Trends in Incidence of Intracerebral Hemorrhage and Association With Antithrombotic Drug Use in Denmark, 2005-2018

Stine Munk Hald et al.

Summary: This study investigated the association between antithrombotic drug use and nontraumatic intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), and found that the strongest association was with vitamin K antagonists (VKAs) compared to low-dose aspirin and clopidogrel, while the association was weaker with direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs). Despite a substantial increase in oral anticoagulation use during the study period, the incidence rate of ICH decreased.
