A Questionnaire Study to Assess Patients With Cleft Lip and Palate for Their Oral Health-Related Quality of Life

Amiya Ranjan Sahoo et al.

Summary: The survey aimed to evaluate the impact of cleft lips and palates on the quality of life of patients with regard to their dental health. A questionnaire was distributed to 50 individuals aged between eight and 15 years who had undergone treatment for cleft lip and/or palate. The results revealed a significant negative effect of cleft lip and palate on oral health-related quality of life, causing difficulties in speaking, eating, and smiling, and leading to self-consciousness and social isolation. Therefore, improving oral health is crucial for the overall well-being and happiness of patients with cleft lip and/or palate.
