Epilepsy phenotypes associated with MAP1B-related brain malformations

Ravindra Arya et al.

Summary: Recent studies using whole-exome sequencing (WES) of individuals with periventricular heterotopia (PVH) have found an association with loss-of-function variants in the MAP1B gene. The neurological phenotypes of affected individuals include various types of seizures, developmental delays, and neuroimaging abnormalities. A novel frameshift variant in MAP1B was identified in all affected family members, expanding the understanding of the clinical and neuroimaging phenotypes associated with MAP1B pathogenic variants.
