Summary: Loneliness and social isolation have negative impacts on the health and well-being of older adults. Information and communication technology can help alleviate these effects, but it must be tailored to the specific needs of older adults. This study examines the use of a co-designed web platform for social interaction by older adults, researchers, and social services personnel. The findings reveal that although the platform met the expectations of the participants and helped expand their social networks, it did not reduce their feelings of loneliness. The involvement of social services personnel was crucial in facilitating the use of the platform.

Summary: The prevalence of obesity among kindergarten children in Texas is higher than the national average, especially among Hispanic students. Research on the influence of school and neighborhood-level socioeconomic status (SES) on childhood obesity is limited. This study found that school SES was negatively associated with children's body mass index z-score (BMIz), meaning that as school SES increased, individual students' BMIz decreased. Conversely, neighborhood poverty was positively associated with BMIz, indicating that as neighborhood poverty increased, individual students' BMIz also increased.

Summary: Small-scale irrigation plays a significant role in improving the livelihoods of rural people in Ethiopia. This study examined the impact of small-scale irrigation on farmers' livelihoods using a stratified random sampling technique and econometric models. The results showed that factors such as age, land ownership, off-farm job participation, extension contact, market distance, and irrigation user neighbors influenced farmers' decision to practice irrigation. Furthermore, the irrigation schemes had a positive and significant impact on users' total income, increasing it by 8.5% compared to non-users. Therefore, improving access to market and water for irrigation and providing extension and other complementary services can increase irrigation participation and improve farmers' livelihoods.

Summary: Based on survey data from mango farmers in Hainan Province, this study empirically analyzes the impact of agricultural extension services on farmers' willingness to use organic fertilizer. The results indicate that agricultural extension services have a significant positive effect on farmers' willingness to use organic fertilizer. Additionally, ecological cognition has a partial mediating effect and the neighborhood effect moderates the influence mechanism.

Summary: This study integrates the elaboration likelihood model (ELM) and stimulus-organism-response (S-O-R) theory to investigate the influence of dual-processing path of information on customers' behavioral intention during the Double 11 shopping festival. The results show that the peripheral path has a greater impact on consumers' behavioral intention, and affective experience has a stronger effect on behavioral intention than cognitive experience. In addition, situational involvement moderates the relationship between the two experiences and behavioral intention.

Summary: This study examines the effects of online shopping experience on customer involvement and online purchase intention under different social tie strengths. The results show that the online shopping experience has a positive effect on customer involvement, and this in turn influences online purchase intention. Cognitive and affective involvement play different mediating roles based on the strength of social ties. The implications of these findings are discussed for both researchers and practitioners.
