Maxillomandibular Reconstruction Using Insourced Virtual Surgical Planning and Homemade CAD/CAM: A Single-Center Evolution in 75 Patients

However, there is no significant difference in timing between VSP and TSP during surgery. Virtual Surgical Planning in Orthognathic Surgery: Two Software Platforms Compared

Summary: This study compared the differences between two commonly used digital software in pre-surgical planning for patients with dentofacial deformities. The results showed that both software tools are useful and effective in digital surgical planning, with negligible differences in performance that do not affect the success of the planning. The IPS software is a valid alternative to the popular Dolphin Imaging software and is even considered better in terms of accuracy, effectiveness, and reliability.

Changes in the pharyngeal airway after different orthognathic procedures for correction of class III dysplasia

Summary: This study compared the effects of different orthognathic procedures on the pharyngeal airway in subjects with class III deformity. The results showed that mandibular setback surgery caused the greatest reduction in the pharyngeal airway, while bimaxillary surgery and maxillary advancement surgery led to a slight increase in airway dimensions. It is recommended to prefer a two-jaw operation instead of a mandibular setback alone in the treatment of prognathic mandible in subjects with predisposing factors to the development of sleep-disordered breathing.
