Perceptions on the current content and pedagogical approaches used in end-of-life care education among undergraduate nursing students: a qualitative, descriptive study

Wenjing Cao et al.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the current state of education regarding end-of-life care from the perspectives of undergraduate nurses. Face-to-face semi-structured interviews were conducted with a sample of 15 fourth-year undergraduate nurses. Three main themes emerged from the analysis: universities provide foundational knowledge about end-of-life care but there is room for improvement, clinical practice is crucial for consolidating and driving nurses' knowledge and skills in end-of-life care, and cultural attitudes sometimes hinder learning and knowledge translation.
