Processing of tyre data for rolling noise prediction through a statistical modelling approach

Luca Rapino et al.

Summary: This paper discusses a statistical modeling approach for identifying and processing noise-related tyre/road parameters in order to support the design of quieter products. The workflow for developing a statistical tyre/road noise model is described and applied to predict sound intensity levels in indoor tests. Input and output data measurement and processing are discussed to create a suitable database. The proposed approach is tested using a neural network, showing potential in parameter selection and feature extraction.

Simulation of deterministic tyre noise based on a monopole substitution model

Qianqian Li et al.

Summary: This paper discusses indoor tyre noise tests and the simulation of the deterministic part of the sound field generated by a rolling tyre using a monopole substitution model. Results show the variation of deterministic/random noise contributions with frequency and the independence of random noise spectrum from specific tread pattern design. The capability of the monopole substitution model in reproducing the acoustic field radiated by a rolling tyre is assessed through the analysis of sound spectra and space distribution.
