Experimental and numerical investigation of accretion inception and heat transfer physics in ice crystal icing

Yasir A. Malik et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of glaciated icing clouds on heated substrates through experiments and numerical simulations. The results show that flow velocity and ice water content have a significant influence on the accretion time, while the effect of wet bulb temperature depends on its positive or negative value. The findings provide a more accurate numerical model for ice crystal icing, improving flight safety and performance.
