Summary: The present study evaluated the anti-biofilm and bystander effects of antimicrobial photo-sonodynamic therapy (aPSDT) on polymicrobial periopathogenic biofilms formed on mini-screws coated with zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs). The results showed that ZnONPs-mediated aPSDT could significantly reduce periopathogen biofilm as well as the expression level of inflammatory cytokines.

Summary: This study evaluated the anti-biofilm and anti-inflammatory effects of nanoresveratrol-modified PMMA against multispecies microbial biofilms. The results showed that nanoresveratrol had a high antibacterial effect on various microbial biofilms and significantly reduced the expression levels of cytokines.

Effect of nanomicelle curcumin-based photodynamic therapy on the dynamics of white spot lesions and virulence of Streptococcus mutans in patients undergoing fixed orthodontic treatment: A randomized double-blind clinical trial

Summary: This study investigated the effects of nanomicelle curcumin-based photodynamic therapy (NMCur-aPDT) on microbial count and virulence of Streptococcus mutans as well as the number and dynamics of white spot lesions (WSLs) around fixed orthodontic appliances. The results showed that NMCur-aPDT had the highest antimicrobial and anti-virulence activities against S. mutans. Patients treated with NMCur-aPDT had significantly lower numbers and fluorescence values of WSLs compared to other treatment groups.

Summary: Despite the availability of numerous software options for evidence synthesis, there is currently no universal tool for generating figures to display and explore risk-of-bias assessments. However, tools such as the R programming environment and Shiny have made it easy to create new tools for producing evidence syntheses. The new tool robvis facilitates the rapid production of publication-quality risk-of-bias assessment figures and is available as an R package and web app.
